ESMoA Drawing Club

Every Friday

ESMoA - Just DrawEl Segundo Museum of Art hosts the Drawing Club every Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

In this informal drawing club, attendees will start with warm-up drawing exercises and then take inspiration from the featured artworks. No artistic experience is required and all supplies will be provided. This program is for adults.

Kid’s Club @ The Point

Third Thursdays, May through December

Kids-Club-The_PointThe Point hosts the Mommy & Me (and Daddy’s, too!) Kid’s Club the third Thursday of every month, May through December, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Parents of pre-schoolers know it’s not always easy to keep kids stimulated and occupied, and it can be downright exhausting. Luckily, The Point is kicking off a monthly Kid’s Club to provide nothing but fun activities and good times for South Bay families, at no charge. Parents and their pre-school aged kids are welcome to come to The Point for arts and crafts, live entertainment, face painting, stilt walker, Smitten Ice Cream tastings and more!

Athleta FREE Workouts @ The Point

AthletaAthleta presents FREE Workouts every Sunday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Point in El Segundo.

Join the Athleta crew for a FREE workout taught by local instructors on the grass in the Plaza. The schedule includes Yoga, Couples Yoga, Yoga Cycle, Pilates, Sweat & Sculpt and more. Get ready to get your sweat on during these fun workouts! All you need to bring is your mat, water and a friend!

prAna Community Yoga @ The Point

prAna_YOGAprAna offers FREE Community Yoga every Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. in store at The Point.

Tight, tense, and not flexible? The answer is Yoga. This class is designed to sculpt your body making tight areas more agile It also improves and makes many functional activities a lot easier on your muscles and joints. Variations and modifications are given to accommodate all levels and abilities.

Enjoy food and drinks after class, prAna provides the yoga mats, and it’s open to all ages and skill levels!

Twisted Tales: Haunted House

October 17 – 31, 2019

The City of El Segundo Recreation and Parks along with the El Segundo Rotary Club and El Segundo Masonic Lodge are proud to present Twisted Tales: Haunted House at the El Segundo Teen Center from October 17 through October 31.

Twisted Tales takes classic fairy tales to a whole new level! Fall down the rabbit hole into famous fairy tale stories with a dark twist! Guests will encounter an alternate timeline from Hansel and Gretel’s not-so-sweet adventure, to Beauty & the Beast’s happily never after, as well as a diabolical operation replacing tea time for Alice and her friends!

This exciting attraction will open on Thursday, October 17 and operate until Halloween on Thursday, October 31. There will be special, kid-friendly shows on October 24 and October 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. and October 20 and 27 from 4 to 5 p.m. The house lights will be left on and the monsters are tamed or taking a nap.

During regular event nights, the monsters will be wide awake and ready to leave you shivering in your shoes! Hours are on Fridays and Saturdays, 6 to 10 p.m., Sundays, 6 to 9 p.m. with an extra special, scary night on Halloween from 6 to 11 p.m. Don’t worry, there will be various exit points along the maze just in case it gets a little too scary!

Harvest Festival

The International Garden Center presents the annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.

It’s time to pick out your pumpkins! The event features a petting zoo, all ages scavenger hunt, edible pumpkin treats, gardening classes and a BBQ with hamburgers, hot dogs and soda for $1.50.

Lunch & Learn

The El Segundo Chamber of Commerce presents the monthly Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, October 23 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at R6 Distillery.

Make your reservations for a wonderful lunch event and tour of the R6 Distillery with lunch provided by the El Segundo Catering Company.

The featured speaker is Rob Rubens, Founder and Head Distiller.

ESMoA Experience #43: PLANT

October 24, 2019

ESMoA is excited to present Experience 43: PLANT opening on Thursday, October 24, 2019 and running through January 25, 2020.

PLANT invites visitors to peek inside the studio of Amely Spoetzl, as well as explore her artworks, urban interventions, photographs, drawings, sculptures and more. Photographs of her artworks are created in collaboration with Bernd Zoellner.

The Experience will include an interactive component Thicket, where the visitor can actively contribute to its formation using drawing tools created by the artist.

The ESMoA Experience Award recipient for PLANT is Jasmine Nyende, a LA-based new media artist, whose work includes poetry, fiber art and experimental performance.

El Segundo Museum of Art

ESMoA - sbbjThe El Segundo Museum of Art (ESMoA) opened its doors in January 2013 with the intent to make art more accessible through creative and interactive experiences designed to engage the community.

Founded by Brian and Eva Sweeney and curated by Bernhard Zuenkeler, ESMoA is a non-profit art space located in a new building next to the former post office on Main Street.

Vintage Car Rides @ The Automobile Driving Museum

011@2013-03-25T03;27;04Southern California has a rich automotive history and the Automobile Driving Museum (ADM) is a favorite of car aficionados.

Located in El Segundo, the ADM exists to preserve automotive history. The ADM has an impressive, rotating collection of 130 classic, antique and historic cars on display.

Several Southern California collector car clubs showcase their vehicles at the ADM and on any given weekend you can find collections of particular makes and models.

Water Harvest Festival

The West Basin Municipal Water District presents the Water Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edward C. Little Recycling Facility.

This year’s event celebrates “Water for Tomorrow” with a free and fun water education event for the whole family! As part of the festivities, West Basin will be offering fun water activities, food, games, stage shows, kids costume contest, a chance to enter the grand prize giveaway and so much more.

Free parking and shuttle service is located at 1960 East Grand Street.

Chevron Community Tour Day

The Chevron El Segundo Refinery is hosting a Community Tour Day on Saturday, November 2.

The community is invited to tour the facility from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on free one-hour bus tours.

Reservations are required and must include the names of everyone in your party, time preference, city of residence and phone number. Photo ID will be required for all adults and cameras or camera-phones are not allowed.

The Big EQ Organization will host a Parent & Child Fair for Social and Emotional Health on November 3 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the DaVinci School

It will be an afternoon filled with fun activities showcasing ways for children and youths to become their best selves including games, gifts from the L.A. Lakers, learning materials and food options.

Bring your kids from age 4 to teens to experience how these enjoyable techniques teach young people to manage their strong emotions, problem solve, focus, and relate to themselves and others in a healthy, constructive way. And which develop young people into well-rounded, caring and highly successful adults.

Caribbean Nights

Next Step presents Caribbean Nights on Friday, November 15 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Automobile Driving Museum.

The event features a full bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, cigar rolling, and live reggae music. There will also be a silent and live auction hosted by The Charity Angels.
