  • California Coastal Cleanup Day

    September 18, 2021

California Coastal Cleanup Day, a yearly beach and inland waterway effort to eliminate waste, will take place on Saturday, September 18 between 9 a.m. and noon.

You’ve been recycling for years, reduced your water consumption, turned in the old gas guzzler for a cleaner fuel ride and maybe even installed solar panels. What more can be done? Funny you should ask. Join thousands of volunteers up and down the coast as they gather to remove trash and debris that eventually ends up in the ocean.

California Coastal Cleanup Day was first organized in 1985 by the California Coastal Commission. Last year, over half a million volunteers removed almost 18.3 million pounds of trash and debris in only a few hours from beaches, rivers and lakes throughout the state.

Coastal Cleanup Day is about much more than picking up trash. It’s a chance for Californians to join people around the world in expressing their respect for our oceans and waterways.
