Discover Manhattan Beach

The Manhattan Beach Art Center presents the Discover Manhattan Beach on display July 12 through September 29.

Celebrate national Parks & Rec Month and discover everything Manhattan Beach has to offer! Revel in leisure, hidden gems and hot spots through the eyes and lenses of local artists. Enjoy original artwork by the community in a variety of mediums that shows what makes the City an enchanting place to live and visit.

This exhibition is a portrait of Manhattan Beach and its progressive, laid back lifestyle familiar to all.

ESMoA Experience #41: OZ

June 13 – September 21, 2019

El Segundo Museum of Art presents Experience 41:​ OZ​ from June 13 through September 21.  

Experience 41: OZ invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Oz created by storyteller L. Frank Baum. OZ is organized by Jeff Cason with curatorial support by Barbara Boehm and Eugenia Torre.

This Experience will feature over 80 artworks and artifacts from the original book and its inspired stories. On display will be all 40 books in the Oz series as well as original and rare framed illustrations by the Oz illustrators, W. W. Denslow, John R. Neill and more.

Redondo Beach Night Market

Every Thursday

Native Harvest presents the Redondo Beach Night Market every Thursday night from 5 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

The Night Market vendors offer an array of hot and prepared foods for purchase, seating area, DJ, and kid’s corner for the little ones.

Social Workplace: Thirsty Third Thursdays

Social Workplace hosts the monthly Social Hour: Thirsty Third Thursdays every Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Get social at Social Workplace! Bring your best smile and plenty of business cards. Each person has a chance to pitch their business to the group with plenty of mingling before and after. Pitches start promptly at 6 p.m. and refreshments are served. Know anyone who might need a workplace or meeting space? Bring a friend!

Community Fitness Classes

The YMCA in partnership with Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center will be holding FREE Community Fitness Classes every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park.

Classes meet next to outdoor exercise area and are for all fitness levels.
Zumba – Saturdays 9 to 10 a.m.
Basic Boot Camp – Saturdays 10 to 11 a.m.

These events are FREE and open to all! Come join in on the fun!

First Fridays in Riviera Village

This free, monthly event is the place to be every first Friday! Head to the Village and enjoy live music, food samplings, gallery viewing, promotional offers and more while you dine and shop. Riviera Village merchants and art galleries stay open until 8 p.m. The energy will be fueled by live music at the north east corner of Avenue I and Catalina from 6 to 8 p.m.

Yoga on the Octagon

Second Saturdays

The Redondo Beach Pier Association and Cancer Support Community presents Yoga on the Octagon the second Saturday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend and take part in this all level yoga class where the International Boardwalk meets the Redondo Beach Pier (the octagon below Kincaid’s).

Participants should bring a yoga mat, towel and bottled water.

Aquadeck Yoga

Shade Hotel Redondo Beach offers FREE Yoga on the Aquadeck every Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 to 9 a.m.

Gather a few friends for an hour long, all levels class. This event is ‘weather permitting’, so don’t show up if it’s raining. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing. Mats are available on a first come, first serve basis. It’s a terrific way to start the day!

Costume Figure Drawing @ MBAC

First Thursdays

LIVE-Costume-Figure-Drawing-MBACThe Manhattan Beach Art Center presents LIVE: Costume Figure Drawing the first Thursday of each month from 7 to 10 p.m.

LIVE is a FREE series of Thursday night community-building activities designed to enhance artistic skills and develop presentation confidence in local artists. Small refreshments and good vibes will be provided. LIVE is open to everyone 16 years and older. Events are FREE but a donation of $12 is much appreciated to help defray costs.

Hang out with your friends and work on your figure drawing skills with a live costumed model. No instructors and no pressure – draw as you feel! Attendees should bring their own materials; easels will be provided if necessary.

Mindfulness Drop In

First Wednesdays

Mindfulness 4Beach Cities Health District offers a FREE Mindfulness Drop-In the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Take 30 minutes to downshift and practice mindfulness techniques.The monthly sessions will be led by trained Beach Cities Health District staff. No prior experience with meditation or mindfulness is required.

Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in and get settled.

Community Beautification @ Seaside Heroes Park

Seaside-Heroes-Park-Community-Beautification-EventJoin volunteers at Seaside Heroes Park for the monthly Community Beautification Event the second Saturday of every month from 8 to 11 a.m.

All are welcome to get down and dirty and lend a hand cleaning, weeding, and dead heading – including groups or individuals who need community service hours.

Even though the park is small, it’s a huge job to keep it looking good. As of January 2019, volunteers have put over 1300 work hours into the project. This is a labor of love and the organizers are immensely grateful to anyone who gives their time.

Whale Watching Excursions

December – April

gray-whale-south-bay-by-jackieWhale watching is a time-honored tradition along the California coastline and the South Bay offers a magnificent vantage point to witness one of the world’s great seasonal migrations.

The Gray Whale Migration runs from December through April with the whales travelling through our local waters from Alaska to Baja, Mexico and back. There have been an unprecedented number of Gray Whale sightings the past few seasons. In addition, several other species have been spotted including Fin, Minke, Humpback and Sperm whales, along with numerous Orcas (technically, not a whale!).

ESMoA Drawing Club

ESMoA - Just DrawEl Segundo Museum of Art hosts the Drawing Club every Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

In this informal drawing club, attendees will start with warm-up drawing exercises and then take inspiration from the featured artworks. No artistic experience is required and all supplies will be provided. This program is for adults.

Cruise at the Beach

Cruise at Ruby's - sbbjVroom, vroom! The Cruise is back!

Cruise at the Beach returns to Ruby’s Diner in Redondo Beach for the season!

Open to the public, this free event happens every Friday night through October and features a gathering of vintage automobiles on display in the Ruby’s Diner parking lot from 4 to 8 p.m.
