The XXL Show

April 27 – May 27, 2019

Destination: Art presents the The XXL Show opening on Saturday, April 27 and running through Memorial Day.

It’s not only the first big art exhibition of 2019, it is also the first BIG ART show at the non-profit studio and gallery. Art lovers, collectors, and the curious are invited to attend this special show and sale, celebrating larger pieces by local artists. The public will enjoy the variety of art in the Studio and Gallery that can become a centerpiece of one’s home or office.

“Our patrons have been asking us for a show of large art pieces for some time,” says Dave Wolfram, Destination: Art President and one of the founding studio artists. “We’re happy to accommodate their many requests with pieces that have pushed our studio and gallery artists to new boundaries.”

Destination: Art also welcomes new artists to the Gallery – Doug Castleman and Lynn Mikami — who will be on hand at the Gala Reception.

Award winning Doug Castleman paints landscapes in oil and watercolor with vibrant color and rich texture. He is renowned for his aviation art featuring commercial, private and military aircraft, as well as experimental planes and space-related subjects. His work has been purchased by local and international collectors and by NASA. Some of his work is part of the US Air Force Art Collection.

Mixed Media Artist Lynn Mikami’s art includes experimental collage, assemblage, fused glass, batik and encaustic. “My work expresses ideas, opinions or feelings that lift us beyond the ordinary, that expand our perception in some way to touch, connect and enrich our lives,” she says. “I’m inspired by nature, myth and the varied cultures of the world.”

Gallery Hours: Thursday – Saturday 11 am to 5 pm; Sundays Noon to 4 p.m.
