Second Sundays
The Torrance Beach Drum Circle meets on the beach every second Sunday of each month from 1 to 3:30 p.m. right below the Torrance Beach parking lot.
All ages and musical abilities are welcome to this FREE event; drums and percussion instruments are provided for everyone.
This is a casual group of friends and music lovers that enjoy sharing the joy of music with the community and it’s a particular pleasure when children get involved.

There’s something romantic about a lighthouse….
If you’ve ever driven along the coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, chances are you’ve caught a glimpse of the Point Vicente Lighthouse. Built in 1926, the 67 foot high tower is perched on a cliff offering breathtaking views of the endless Pacific and its beacon can be seen from twenty miles at sea.
First Fridays
The Classical Crossroads’ concert series, First Fridays at First, is graciously hosted as a gift to the community by FirstServe Community Services, the non-profit community service partner organization of First Lutheran Church & School in Torrance.
Talented rising artists from around the world are presented at First Lutheran Church at noon the first Friday of each month.
The mission of Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation is to enrich the community through the performing arts by providing diverse cultural, educational and entertainment experiences of the highest quality.
Located at the heart of the South Bay, the Torrance Cultural Arts Center houses the James R. Armstrong Theatre and George Nakano Theatre. They offer a variety of live entertainment including dramatic, comedic and musical theater productions, concerts and other events.
The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center is the largest performing arts venue (1,457 seats) in the South Bay and showcases a variety of entertainment.
RBPAC plays host to the Distinguished Speaker Series, the Los Angeles Ballet, 3D Theatricals and live concerts including the Southern California Slack Key Festival, Aloha Falsetto Festival, Los Angeles Flamenco Festival, Los Angeles Guitar Festival and Gypsy Jazz Festival.
The newly remodeled Palos Verdes Art Center, a non-profit, community visual arts gallery and school, ‘inspires individuals to celebrate, appreciate and create art.’
Since 1931, when it was founded as a cultural arm of the planned community of Palos Verdes Estates, the Art Center’s exhibitions, educational and outreach programs have made the visual arts available, accessible and affordable.
Palos Verdes Performing Arts is a non-profit organization committed to providing the South Bay with a performing arts venue that is also available for community use. Throughout the season, PVPA stages an eclectic selection of productions, including the best of Broadway plays and musicals, revues and concert performances as well as classes and camps.
PVPA boasts the 450-seat Norris Theater for stage productions, the 300-seat Pavilion for concerts and the Upstairs Gallery for art exhibits.

The Western Museum of Flight is a non-profit, educational institution dedicated to preserving and displaying aircraft history and artifacts of Southern California’s aviation heritage.

The South Bay Film Society was created to bring the best of new foreign and independent films to the big screen in the South Bay.
The Society screens films shortly after they play art house theaters in West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Pasadena and well before the films are available on DVD.
The motion picture industry has made dramatic advances since the invention of the first movie camera in the late nineteenth century – from the introduction of ‘talkies’ to 3D technology, the movies have come a long way – but have you ever wondered what it was like to watch a movie where the only accompaniment was live music?
Filmgoers can experience the Silent Era of film at the Old Town Music Hall. Since 1968, Old Town Music Hall has been screening vintage silent and sound films and presenting live concerts by some of the world’s finest performers of jazz, ragtime and popular music from the past.
The South Bay is world-renowned for its miles of delightful beaches and coastline – but did you know there are also hundreds of acres of woodlands, meadows and trails just waiting to be explored?
One of the South Bay’s best kept secrets is the surprising amount of natural habitat to be found in the area and it is the mission of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to “preserve land and restore habitat for the enjoyment and education of all.”

The Lomita Railroad Museum is dedicated to educating and informing the public about railroads — particularly of the steam era — the present, past, and future of transportation, the history of the U.S. Westward Expansion, the settlement of California, and the people who made this all happen.
The museum, located in Irene Lewis Park, is owned and operated by the City of Lomita and is overseen by the Lomita Parks & Recreation Department. Hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum is closed for major holidays. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children under 12. The Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium is ideally located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier.
Open daily to the public free of charge, the Roundhouse is dedicated to teaching students and visitors about the oceans, marine life and the environment.
They offer a variety of programs including class field trips, volunteer opportunities, summer camps and more. Group tours are also available by reservation.
The South Coast Botanic Garden is located on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula and offers visitors a wide variety of activities and events.
The 87-acre Garden, known as the ‘Jewel of the Peninsula’, has more than 2,500 different species of plants from as far away as Australia, the Mediterranean and southern Africa. The Garden is situated in Sunset’s Zone 23, one of the most favored growing areas in the world.
About 100 trees and shrubs are rare mature specimens, infrequently seen elsewhere. The wide variety of plant life provides food and shelter to an abundant wildlife and bird population, and over 200 species of birds are sighted annually.
