Primo Italia

Torrance, Ca 90505 (Hillside Village)
Jackie says: Primo Italia is known throughout the South Bay for fine Italian cuisine, but did you know you can also pop in for live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night? Think supper club, think the Great American Song Book, think nightcap, think date night, think Primo!

(310) 379-6400
Jackie says: Tower 12 is located in the former Fat Face Fenner’s space on Pier Plaza on a second story deck with views of the ocean and pier. It’s the ultimate beach bar decorated with vintage artifacts and artwork that showcases the laid back surf, music and beach scene. They have DJs and dancing on Tuesdays, live music on Wednesdays, karaoke on Thursdays and the Sunset Sessions on Sunday night. Check the schedule for one-off events.

Naja’s Place

Najas Place

154 International Boardwalk
Redondo Beach, CA 90277

Jackie says: In addition to having pretty much every beer in the world, Naja’s also offers live music every Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Naja’s is the ultimate harbor dive bar – it’s a fairly raucous scene and the acoustics leave much to be desired… but it’s a completely unique South Bay institution, adored by all and a favorite stop during a Strand Cruise!

The Slip

(310) 376-8910
120 North International Boardwalk
Redondo Beach, CA 90277

Jackie says: The Slip has live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in addition to an Open Mic Night every Wednesday night beginning at 8 p.m. This fun, intimate venue is located at the water’s edge in the Redondo Marina and is a favorite dining destination and watering hole for locals.

Hey 19 Public House

(310) 378-8119
4525 Calle Mayor
Torrance, CA 90505

Jackie says: This casual, funky, neighborhood bar and restaurant has quickly become the hottest spot to get your groove on in the South Bay. They host both live bands and DJs and regularly have events like ‘Flash Back Friday’ featuring music of the 70s and 80s. Put on your dancin’ shoes and plan to shake your booty into the wee hours! This place is a ton of fun!

The Standing Room

1320 Hermosa Avenue
Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

Jackie Says: The Standing Room offers acoustic sets Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. During the weekends, they feature bands coming through town on tour. There’s an impressively stocked bar, full menu, plenty of seating and dancing is encouraged. I like the feel of the space: brick walls, high ceilings, reclaimed wood. A great spot to kick back and enjoy a craft beer or house cocktail after a day at the beach. Don’t miss the South Bay Jam on Thursday nights at 9:30 (mostly locals) or Sundays at 5 p.m. (musicians from outside the bubble, but great none-the-less!).

Sunday Funday (summer months only) offers the most unique live music venue on the property (and the entire South Bay) – the gas dock!
