The Redondo Beach Police Department Community Engagement Board will host the first annual MLK Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 20 at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
The community is invited for an evening of reflection and celebration to honor the life, leadership and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The event features Dr. Marcus “Goodie” Goodloe, an educator, speaker, and the RDPD Chaplain; Tonya McKenzie, Chairwoman of this inaugural MLK Jr. Celebration; Captain Jon Naylor from the Redondo Beach Police Department; and special musical guest, Corbin Jones’ Big Band.
The RBPD Community Engagement Board plans to develop a scholarship for a Redondo Union High School student that exemplifies the characteristics of Dr. King and contributes to the community.
