El Camino College Board of Trustees Election

October 22, 2020

Listen to The South Bay Show: South Bay Spotlight!

Our guests this morning are Kenneth Brown, Siannah Collado Boutté and David Kartsonis from El Camino College. There are big changes and issues for higher education on the ballot this November right here in the South Bay. This year’s El Camino College trustees election is unusually important and historic because three seats are open. The District 3 seat is open because Bill Beverly, an attorney, is retiring from the board after serving for three decades. In addition, District 4 trustee Mary Combs is not seeking reelection, and District 1 Trustee Kent Brown is up for reelection. In addition, President Dena Maloney is retiring at the end of the current school year. One-third of the faculty at El Camino College is full time and two-thirds are part-time and faculty pay raises will be top on the agenda for the newly elected board. We are going to discuss all of this with our guests today.
