January 23, 2019

The Works, a renovated South Bay hub is making its debut with a fresh new look & name for 2019! The Works, neighboring Plaza El Segundo on Allied Way, has just completed a refresh with an array of new amenities and features including lush common area upgrades with lighting and landscaping. The Works provides a fun environment for all to enjoy, whether you’re looking for the perfect place to shop, eat, workout, dine or simply spend time with family and friends.

Community favorites continue to thrive at The Works including Yoga Works, California Fish Grill and Veggie Grill; while popular new brands Barry’s Bootcamp and OrangeTwist have chosen The Works as their South Bay home opening last year.

Looking forward to 2019, three fresh and new-to-market merchants will make their debut at The Works. Celebrity Food Network star Duff Goldman to open Duff’s Cakemix (“DCM”) a do-it-yourself cake and cupcake decorating studio where the customer is the artist. A soul-nourishing escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life, DCM is a space for spontaneous creative outings, birthday parties, team building activities, corporate events and charity events. Customers select from an offering of pre-baked cakes and cupcakes, build their kits with colorful frosting, fondant and candies, and then bring their creative vision to life.

“I am super excited to share my love of cake decorating with the South Bay community. The Works feels like the epicenter of an amazing community. I can’t wait to see the inspiration and creativity that happens here” said founder Duff Goldman. Duff is a chef, baker, cake decorator and Food Network personality. He is currently the lead judge on the Baking Championship TV shows.

Secondly, Motion Stretch Studio, a studio aimed at making whole-body stretching available to all will be opening this spring at The Works. People have been stretching wrong for a generation, and MOTION is on a mission to make things right. The brand uses a MOTION Method through interactive stretching exercises while advising on breathing and body posture.

Lastly, The Works will welcome new eatery Soom Soom offering its Mediterranean roots and flare to the community. The classic menu is packed with classic dishes like falafels, shawarmas, kebobs, hummus and more, made up of fresh ingredients with no preservatives or additives. The first Soom Soom opened in 2016 in Los Angeles. This will be Soom Soom’s fifth home and only South Bay location.
