July 19, 2018
I initially launched the South Bay by Jackie website because there was no existing platform listing activities and events happening throughout the entire South Bay – and if I was going to recommend those events to an audience, I needed to know what I was talking about. So, over these past seven years I’ve attended pretty much every event out there. Sounds like fun, right? It definitely is, but I’ve always attended in a work capacity, viewing things through the eyes of my audience, asking questions, checking out venues, taking pics and video, etc. This summer, I’m doing things a little differently. My 16-year-old niece is staying with us for a month, and knowing I’d need to keep her engaged (there’s no way I’d let her be glued to electronic devices all day) I devised a plan of attack. I pulled up my day planner, went to my website, and scheduled at least one event or activity for us to do every day (many days there are two, three or four). It’s been working really well – she’s experiencing new, fun, interesting things and I’m getting to relax and appreciate them from a different perspective. With all the running around during the day, I’ve been staying up ‘til the wee hours to get my work done, but you know what? Getting to spend this time with my niece is so worth it!
