July 22, 2021
There’s lots of exciting stuff to tell you about this week! I attended DiscOasis at the South Coast Botanic Garden last Saturday and it was TOO MUCH FUN…. I didn’t even roller skate and I had a blast! Watching the roller skaters was so entertaining, it demonstrated just how powerful music and movement can be. DiscOasis is fun for the whole family (even if you don’t skate!) and I strongly recommend you order tickets before they sell out. I’m going again next month with a few girlfriends and definitely intend to lace up some skates! So, last week I received details on a brand-new event – the 2021 Summer Silent Concert Series at Rock & Brews PCH. These are headphone concerts, featuring tribute bands, that will take place on the outdoor patio. Upon check-in, you’ll receive top-of-the-line, hi-fidelity headphones (sanitized for your safety), and the crew will get you tuned in to the night’s frequencies. They offer studio-quality sound – the highest quality sound you will ever hear at a concert. Guaranteed. No amps, no noise, no problems! I attended one of these concerts last summer and it was TOO COOL. The best part? You can adjust the volume, so if you want to talk to someone, you don’t have to yell over the music. The schedule is now listed on the website calendar. The El Segundo Art Walk returns for one night only on August 28! I imagine it will be bigger and better than ever since they have to squeeze everything into one night. The International Surf Festival is back and you know what that means…. the return of 6-Man! This year, the popular volleyball tournament will take place on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Yes, the mask mandate is back in effect, but we’re fortunate to live in a climate where we can enjoy all these incredible outdoor experiences. The summer is heating up!
