Regional Message on COVID-19 Threat

May 2, 2020

California has ultimate authority to determine the measures taken by all state and local government officials in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The County of Los Angeles must comply with the state orders, but they can implement stricter policies based on regional concerns. Cities must also adhere to state and county measures, but can also implement stricter policies based on specific community needs.

We hear your concerns. Please understand that we too are members of your communities. We see and hear the impacts this is having on individuals, families, and businesses. Please stay vigilant and adhere to the County’s Safer at Home Order so that we can move into the next phase of recovery.

CALIFORNIA’S FOUR STAGE PLAN TO RECOVERY: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Early this week, Governor Newsom outlined the four stages to recovery. While the dates are fluid and based on many indicators, we are likely weeks away from phase 2. There are no dates attached to each phase, but this is the criteria the state will use to transition to each stage of recovery.
