MBSAFE Community Meeting: A Conundrum – Helping Mentally Ill Homeless People

November 16, 2020

MBSAFE will host a community meeting, A Conundrum: Helping Mentally Ill Homeless People on Monday, November 16 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. via Zoom.

MBSAFE’s mission is to provide leadership to manage and eliminate the destructive consequences of homelessness in the community. The goal is to promote community awareness, engagement and support.

When MBSAFE was founded, they established a relationship with the President of Pacific Palisades Homeless Task Force. The situation in the Palisades seems similar to the one we are experiencing in the beach cities: a significant increase of homeless individuals, who suffer of mental illness.

The meeting will feature LaTina Jackson, who will address Home Teams and the DMH pilot program. Please, know there is a Home Team available to the beach cities (region 8). This is an important resource we need to use – they are activated only if they know there is a need. MBSAFE has established a relationship with the Home Team assigned to our region. If you signal us a habitual homeless with mental problem to us, we can signal him/her to them.

All are welcome to attend but you must register!
