LOFI is Back….and a Manhattan Beach DUI Checkpoint

April 30, 2016

The Standing Room presents LOFI tonight from 9 p.m. to midnight. The South Bay’s only live, hip hop ensemble is back!

The set features Scott Levine – rap genius; Dani Armstrong – vocal powerhouse; Olivia Pucci – vocal goddess; Nik Hughes – Drum Domination: Melissa Sommers – Sexy Keyboard Goddess; and Aragorn Wiederhold – live looping guitar fanatic. They’ll take the stage to celebrate a genre of music that is underserved in all of our local live music venues. Come support a rich repertoire from NWA, to Biggie, to Tupac, to all the old skool classics in between, with a totally live band. Zero Cover!!!

The Standing Room is located at 1320 Hermosa Avenue, Hermosa Beach, California 90254.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint tonight, Saturday, April 30 from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety, increase the awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired driving and unlicensed driving.

The intent of the checkpoint is to encourage sober designated drivers. By publicizing these educational and enforcement efforts, the Manhattan Beach Police Department believes that drinking and driving and driving while unlicensed will be reduced.

The “Zero Tolerance” approach to enforcement sends a clear message to those who still don’t heed the warning to designate a sober driver before celebrations begin. Simply put, “If you are over the legal limit, you will be arrested.”

The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver. I have one word of advice…UBER.

Sobriety and drunk driving checkpoint representing the dangers of drivers that are intoxicated above the legal limit by alcohol or other drugs while they are behind the wheel of a vehicule.
