Jazz v. Punk, Hermosa Beach

October 5, 2018

Jazz-v-Punk-Hermosa-BeachSunscreen Mentor Programs presents the premier of Jazz v. Punk, Hermosa Beach on Friday, October 5 at 8 p.m. at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse.

How did the little 1.4 square mile town of Hermosa Beach become known for both Jazz and Punk, such seemingly opposite styles of music? The Sunscreen Film Festival Mentor Program started exploring this question back in June, resulting in Jazz v. Punk: Hermosa Beach, a documentary featuring members of Black Flag, Pennywise, The Minutemen, Charles Owens, Gloria Cadena, and many South Bay locals.

Every year the Sunscreen Film Festival premieres a project completed by their nonprofit Mentor Program, which gives local high school and college students the opportunity to gain experience working directly with film professionals.

Tickets are $15.
