Terranea Resort is excited to announce its annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20.
These are family-friendly events in which attendees will learn ways to help the environment and have fun while doing so.
Educational Green Wall | 9AM – 1PM | pointe discovery
•Storybook reading – literature will be borrowed from a public library to encourage a more sustainable alternative to purchasing.
•Landfill Diversion Game – 3 colored and labelled bins (compost – green, recycling – blue, landfill – black) with laminated cards of different products/items (pictures in front and fun facts on the back) participants can determine where it goes by “sticking” cards with Velcro back on the trash can, associates can provide thorough answers and explain the importance of recycling, reducing waste that goes into the landfill, composting food, etc.
•Vermicomposting station – attendees will be able to see the 3 stages of this process, which is created through combining organic coffee grounds, worms, and vegetables.
DIY Seed Bomb Station | 9AM – 1PM pointe discovery | $5 suggested donation to Palos Verdes School Gardens
•Make your own herb, flower and vegetable seed bombs to take home and plant your own warm season garden! All ages are welcome! Walk ups are encouraged and welcomed. No reservations necessary.
Planting Station | 9AM – 1PM pointe discovery | $5 donation to Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy
•Guests and locals can plant native wildflower seeds to take home and grow courtesy of Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. All ages are welcome! Walk ups are encouraged and welcomed. No reservations necessary.
Guided Nature Walk | 10AM – 10:45AM | meet in the lobby
•Join one of Terranea’s naturalists for a complimentary guided walk along the nature trails. Guests can learn about the Palos Verdes Peninsula’s unique local marine ecosystem and Terranea’s year-round conservation efforts. Open to hotel guest and locals, this walk is offered daily and meets in the main lobby. No reservations necessary.
Kelp Forest Cleanup Kayak Tour | 10AM – 12PM & 1PM-3PM | Experience Center | $80
•Take part in a coastal kayak tour and clean up trash along the way. Help beautify the kelp forest! Open to hotel guest and locals, advance reservations are required.
Beach Frames Art Project | 10AM – 2PM | Nelson’s Lawn| $10
•Come join Art To Grow On Inc. and create your very own beach frame! Seashells, stones, sands and more make this an awesome way to honor our oceans and planet. All ages are welcome! Walk ups are encouraged and welcomed. No reservations necessary.
Suzy Blue Butterfly Cookie Decorating | 11AM – 1PM | sea beans | $4
•Head to sea beans to decorate your very own Suzy Blue butterfly cookie. Guests will be able to indulge their sweet tooth while learning about the blue butterfly. No reservations necessary.
