  • Chelsea Pub & Lounge

    1332 Hermosa Avenue
    Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
    310.937.2598
    https://www.chelseapubandlounge.com/
    Cuisine: Casual Fine Dining/Asian Influences
Jackie says: While I don’t post many dining establishments that are first and foremost bars on the Dine Time page, I’m including Chelsea due to some recent changes in their focus. Chelsea has been around for years and is best known as a nighttime hot spot with DJs and dancing. Recently, Chef Darren Weiss of the former Darren’s in Manhattan Beach, moved into the kitchen at Chelsea. (His brother owns the place.) Darren’s was a truly fine dining establishment for 20 years before it closed. Now all those years of kitchen experience can be found at Chelsea… and at a lower price point. Chef Darren has brought some of his best dishes with him and has upped the ante for bar food. Instead of chicken wings, there’s Jidori chicken kebobs; instead of tacos, there’s Asian tostados; instead of fish and chips, there’s seared sesame ahi; instead of a burger, there’s buffalo risotto. The cocktail menu is impressive and I recommend grabbing a window seat and enjoying one with the sunset. There’s still music and dancing later in the evening, so take that into account when making a reservation.

  • Radici Ristorante

    934 Hermosa Avenue
    Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
    (310) 318-0778
    https://radicihermosabeach.com/
    Cuisine: Northern Italian
Jackie says: If you’ve spent any time browsing my choices on this Dine Time page, it should be obvious Italian food is my go-to cuisine, and I adore everything about this recent entry to the South Bay dining scene. The interior is sleek and contemporary, the cocktails are creative, and the food is some of the best I’ve ever had. Radici is a family affair, with the front of the house overseen by Laura Francisco, but it’s her mama, Lucia Gaspari, who reigns in the kitchen – she comes in every day and makes the pasta from scratch. This is authentic Italian and every dish is made to order. The staff is knowledgeable, super friendly and make you feel like part of the family. I especially adore the 70s soundtrack that seems to be playing each time I’ve eaten there! Radidi provides an extremely comfortable dining experience with fantastic ambience. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve found myself lingering over a meal, wishing the evening would never end.

  • Rebel Republic Social House

    Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
    424-348-0800
    http://[email protected]
    Cuisine: Modern American Gastropub
Jackie says: In keeping with the Hennessey family tradition, Rebel Republic Hermosa has a primo location on Pier Avenue with a patio set up offering plenty of street side seating. Same menu, same impressive bar as the Riviera Location in Redondo. It’s been packed since the day it opened. The bar/restaurant scene on Pier Avenue just keeps getting better and better!

  • Silvio’s Brazilian BBQ

    310-376-6855
    https://silviosbbq.com/
    Cuisine: Brazilian BBQ
Jackie Says: Brazilian BBQ has been all the rage for the past few years but it’s the Mississippi style ribs on the menu that keeps me coming back again and again.

  • Steak & Whiskey

    117 Pier Avenue
    Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
    310-318-5555
    http://www.steakandwhisky.com/
    Cuisine: Modern Steakhouse
Jackie says: Blackhouse Hospitality and Chef Tin Vuong, the team behind Abigaile, Little Sister and Dia del Campo, have opened a steakhouse in downtown Hermosa. Steak & Whiskey features dry-aged prime meats and an extensive whisky collection. The intimate space feels old-world in the best possible way – think Paris, New York, London. They’ve foregone the noisy open kitchen and the music level is perfect for conversation. This is an elegant restaurant for people that appreciate great service, comfort and quality food and drinks. The beverage menu is well-curated and lists a few high end wines and whiskeys. The menu offers appetizers, salads and entrees but the main event is the meat. Ordered a la carte with a mouth-watering variety of side dishes, there are several cuts ranging in size from 8 to 24 ounces.

  • The Hook & Plow

    425 Pier Avenue
    Hermosa Beach CA, 90254
    310-937-5909
    http://www.thehookandplow.com/
Cuisine: Farm to Table, Ocean to Plate
Jackie says: Located on upper Pier Avenue, The Hook & Plow has a kick-back, beach casual vibe – but don’t let the relaxed atmosphere fool you – they’re serious about sustainable, organic, locally-sourced food and serve up the freshest product available from seasonal menus. The inspired salads stand on their own, but diners have the option to add a protein to the mix – choose from the catch of the day, organic chicken, diver scallops, flat-iron steak or tofu. The colossal sandwiches can and should be shared. If you’re in the mood for an extraordinary cut of meat, don’t miss Tomahawk Thursdays. The menu is short and sweet and offers something for everyone, including vegans. The four partners are locals – there is always at least one of them on site – and they treat guests like family.

  • The Rockefeller

    418 Pier Avenue
    Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
    310.372.8467
    https://www.eatrockefeller.com/
    Cuisine: Gastropub Fusion
Jackie says: The Rockefeller originally opened in Hermosa Beach and quickly thereafter established locations in Manhattan and Redondo. All three have become local’s favorites for a number of reasons – the laid back vibe, friendly service, casual-yet-stylish decor and fantastic food. The menu reflects the various influences on California cuisine with several Asian and Mexican dishes, in addition to the famous burgers and health conscience salads…. and yet, it all manages to feel like comfort food. If you don’t have time to sit and savor your morning coffee, they also offer grab-and-go menu items for breakfast that are very, very good. Of course, we would be remiss is we didn’t mention the aforementioned famous .99 cent Tuesday burger special!

  • Tower 12

    3 Pier Ave
    Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
    (310) 379-6400
    http://tower12hb.com
    Cuisine: California-inspired American classics
Jackie Says: Located on busy Pier Avenue on a second story deck with interconnected rooms that overlook the ocean and pier, Tower 12 is the ultimate beachside spot for sunset sessions, après surf and always-welcome vibes. The upscale surf shack theme works because, well, actual surfers hang out there. The menu offers plenty of dishes perfect for sharing: meatballs, wings, charcuterie and pizza; a nice selection of salads and sandwiches; and half a dozen mouth-watering entrees. The impressive cocktail menu offers classics with a twist such as the Johnny Utah Margarita, Mai Mule and the Dawn Patrol Bloody Mary. Tower 12 is the perfect place to grab a bite and a beer after a day at the beach – it’s all board shorts and tank tops, sun-kissed skin and sandy feet.
