On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, Torrance City Manager, Aram Chaparyan announced the appointment of Jeremiah Hart as the new Chief of Police, effective June 20, 2021.
Hart was chosen out of 17 candidates which included both internal and external applicants. As the 11th Torrance Police Chief, he will be responsible for leading the Police Department with focus on community engagement, innovation, and developing the next generation of Torrance Police Department Management, while staying at the forefront of law enforcement trends.
