A Faery Hunt: The Amazing Quest

Buy tickets now for A Faery Hunt: The Amazing Quest at the Sunset Theater Company on Sunday, February 23 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Auntie Angelica takes the audience on a gentle adventure to help the faery royalty! With the help of the audience and the faeries, we go on a musical quest filled with fun, laughs and surprises.

A Faery Hunt shows are interactive performances for young audiences that inspire creativity and fun! Many children come in costume. Wings, wands, wizard hats and CD’s of Faery hits are available at the show. Perfect for ages 2 through 10 and great fun for the whole family! Groups and birthday parties are welcome.

Tickets are $15. No tickets will be mailed to you. Your name will be on the will-call list at the check-in table for entrance to the performance. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 818-324-6802 or via email at [email protected].

Beach Cities Free Fitness Week

February 24 – March 1, 2020

Beach Cities Health District presents the annual Free Fitness Week starting Monday, February 24 and running through Sunday, March 1.

QUESTION: What’s better than breaking a healthy sweat at a top fitness studio?
ANSWER: Doing it for free!

Free Fitness Week is a partnership between BCHD and local studios and gyms to provide opportunities for residents to get healthy, and have fun being physically active! The Free Fitness program was designed by BCHD to introduce people of all income and ability levels to a wide variety of fitness offerings, including yoga, Pilates, cycling, strength training, boot camp and more. Over 20 fitness studios in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach have joined the community initiative.

BeachLife Backyard Games

Tito’s Vodka will sponsor the Beachlife Backyard Games every month at a different location in the South Bay leading up to the BeachLife Festival in May 2020.

The BeachLife crew wants to stay busy in the off season, while giving back to the community. They’ve partnered with Tito’s Handmade Vodka to throw some BeachLife Backyard Games for charity.

It’s always FREE to enter, super FUN, and they’ll donate $1,000 to local non-profits every time.

In addition to the games, the events will feature live music and after parties!

Beach Cities Symphony: Summer in February Gala

BCSO presents the Summer in February Gala on Saturday, February 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Alta Vista community Center.

BCSO celebrates their 70th season with dinner, adult beverages, dancing, raffle and silent auction!

BCSO will celebrate honorees, Bob Peterson – the last remaining charter member from the very first season and BCSO french horn player – and four guest conductors for this year: Geoffrey Pope, Paul Piazza, Dean Anderson & Michael Stanley.

First Saturday Sweep

Keep the Esplanade Beautiful presents the monthly Esplanade Sweep on March 7 from 9 to 10 a.m.

The Esplanade, located on the west side of the street from Knob Hill to Miramar Park, is the crown jewel of Redondo Beach! Each of us that walks, runs, rides, or just sits along the Esplanade enjoying the view have a vested interest and responsibility to help maintain it. While we enjoy the Esplanade in different ways, perhaps with our friends and families, our dogs and bike riding clubs, some debris and wear and tear is inevitable, but it’s not just the city’s responsibility to clean up after us – we are all responsible for our environment.

Festival of the Kite

Should you notice the sky above the coastline bursting with colorful, odd shaped objects exhibiting remarkable maneuvering ability, do not be alarmed. This is no alien invasion. No, it’s only the most ancient example of man yearning to fly. The annual Festival of the Kite takes place on Sunday, March 8, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Pier.

St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk

The Village Runner presents the annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk & Leprechaun Dash for the Gold on Sunday, March 15, beginning at 8 a.m.

All participants will receive a St. Patrick’s Day Run t-shirt. There will be chip timing, age division awards and cash prizes to the top three overall male and female runners in the 5k run. All kids dash finishers receive medals too!

The race starts and ends at the Village Runner store in Riviera Village in Redondo Beach with the course taking participants along the Esplanade to Knob Hill and back.

BeachLife Festival

May 1 – 3, 2020

The second annual Beachlife Festival will take place May 1 through May 3 in Redondo Beach.

The event will take place in Ruby’s parking lot and the Seaside Lagoon with an expected 7,000 to 9,000 attendees each day and two stages featuring chart topping, national acts. It’s going to be another spectacular three days of music and fun on the oceanfront.

The BeachLife Festival is proud to announce another exciting musical lineup featuring artists who embody Southern California’s iconic beach culture. Steve Miller Band, Counting Crows, and Ziggy Marley & Stephen Marley’s Bob Marley Celebration will headline the three-day immersive music, art, and culinary oceanside event. Additional artists appearing include UB40 feat. Ali Campbell and Astro, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Fitz and The Tantrums, Live, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, WAR, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Chevy Metal feat. Taylor Hawkins performs Queen, Grace VanderWaal, and more.

Jackie Says: Old school watering hole on the Redondo Beach Pier featuring generous pours, good prices, dance floor and kickass rock and blues. One of my favorite spots to kick back with friends – think shorts, tanks and flip flops. This is as South Bay as it gets!
