The South Coast Botanic Garden has some big plans, but they need YOUR help!

They’ve been teasing some upcoming projects at the Garden, and while they’re eager to tell you what they are, they need your help first!

They’re in need of some donations, including a longboard or 6-foot surfboard and a rowboat. These items will be painted, so they can take them in any condition!

If you’ve been looking to get rid of some junk and happen to have one of these items, please consider donating it to the Garden.

Vote Centers & Vote-by-Mail Drop Boxes across LA County

You have multiple options to cast your ballot in this Election.

Starting Monday, October 5th, LA County is mailing all registered voters a Vote-by-Mail ballot. Supervisor Hahn encourages all voters to utilize this option as it is the safest, fastest and easiest way to vote in this Election. All you have to do is put your ballot in the mail OR at one of the 398 Drop Boxes across LA County.

MBPD Pink Patch Project

The Manhattan Beach Police Department is participating in the Pink Patch Project which is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and 300+ public safety agencies throughout the nation. This project is designed to increase public awareness about breast cancer and to raise funds for the fight against this disease.

During the month of October, employees of the Manhattan Beach Police Department will be demonstrating their support of breast cancer awareness by wearing pink shoulder patches on their uniforms. The pink patches are intended to stimulate conversation within the community and to raise public awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment in the fight against breast cancer.

Shopping Malls, Nail Salons, Breweries and Playgrounds to Resume Indoor Operations with Restrictions.

As yesterday afternoon it was announced that L.A. County is finally allowing Shopping Malls, Nail Salons, Breweries and Playgrounds to resume indoor operations with restrictions.

The following is from yesterday’s online LA Times article…..

After months of closure, shopping centers and nail salons in Los Angeles County will be allowed to resume indoor operations with limited capacity over the next 10 days. Outdoor playgrounds have also been given the green light to reopen following the state’s allowance on Tuesday.

 The World Health Organization has announced plans to deploy 120 million $5 affordable Covid-19 testing kits to poor and middle-income nations, starting with Africa

Local photographer John Post will be publishing a new book, A Tribute: Portrait of a Pier through a Lifetime of Photography, this November.

This year, the Manhattan Beach Pier is 100 years old! John has been photographing it for 50 years and he’s inviting all fans of the Manhattan Beach Pier to have your name included in the new book for FREE and be part of Manhattan Beach Pier history!

This will be the first photo book exclusively of the Manhattan Beach Pier and every image will have the Manhattan Pier in it.
