August 13, 2012: How to spend Sunday night in the South Bay

The girls were out in force last night at the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series and OMG! – we had so much fun! Dawn, TinaMarie, Mia, Pat, Daiana, Baby Dove Bar and yours truly had front row seats and danced the night away…and oh, yeah, that good looking guy in the pic is Gio. The Spazmatics were phenomenal but don’t worry – if you missed the show, they’re playing at Saint Rocke on August 31st. This is the only way to spend a hot, summer night in the South Bay!

August 7, 2012: National Night Out

Tonight marks the 29th Annual National Night Out.

This annual event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness by generating support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and sending a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program. The benefits your community will derive from NNO will most certainly extend well beyond the one night.

Several South Bay Cities will be participating this year. Contact your local police department for details on how you can get involved. Contact info is available at” target=”_blank”>

August 6, 2012: Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series

I know I’m repeating myself but ya’ll know just how much I relish Sundays. Well, yesterday was yet another great example of why Sundays are always better in the South Bay. I rounded up a few of the girls – Dawn, Charlotte, Lana, Pat and Baby Dove – and headed to the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series. Dawn planted a blanket and chairs earlier in the day so we had great seats waiting for us and after a couple of cocktails and appies at her house, we strolled down the Strand to the pier for the show. Ran into a few friends along the way and made a quick pit stop backstage before settling into our sand chairs. The evening got underway with the reggae sounds of The BSide Players and rolled into the smooth latin jazz of Pancho Sanchez. The weather couldn’t have been better and it all ended with a picture perfect sunset (sigh)…THIS is why we live here.

August 3, 2012: How much fun can you have in one weekend???

There’s so much fun stuff happening this weekend, I can’t decide what to do! Tonight, Downtown After Sundown in Manhattan Beach, Swing & Sway in Redondo or Cruise at the Beach? Saturday, Movie in the Park in El Segundo, Nelson’s Summer Concert Series, a hike through a nature preserve in Palos Verdes or the Redondo Beach Concert on the Pier? Sunday, Model Airplane Exhibition at Compton Airport, Summer Concert Series in Polliwog Park, Pancho Sanchez at the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series or the International Surf Festival??? So many great events… little time….
