Last Wednesday evening, I attended an Artful Reception at the South Coast Botanic Garden. The event served as a kick-off for the upcoming art installation, Hide and Seek, which has a soft opening scheduled for August 2019.
If you recall, the coast was socked in all day with substantial cloud cover and that pesky May Gray. I knew a trip to the garden would provide a much needed burst of color to a dull, dismal, gray day.
Guests were treated to sips and bites, along with a presentation by Lomita City Council Member and Garden Circle Member, Mark Waronek, and SCBG CEO Adrienne Nakashima.
A quick glance of attendees offered an indication of the impressive support the Garden receives from all corners of the South Bay. There were Council Members and Chamber reps from Lawndale, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Manhattan Beach and Lomita in attendance, along with several local benefactors and celebrities.
As luck would have it, just as the group gathered in the garden, the sun made an appearance! It turned into a lovely spring evening.
Speaking of spring…. just about EVERYTHING is blooming at the moment, which makes it the perfect time to visit the Garden!
The mission of South Coast Botanic Garden is to serve the community by providing a unique horticultural and wildlife habitat experience, and to represent a model of excellence for land reclamation and sustainability.
